The Burmese is a personality plus cat with a sunny disposition and unflappable nature. Ideally suited to Australian lifestyles. A happy tomboy of a cat it retains its kittenish curiosity and playfulness throughout its life - thereby making it an ideal children's playmate. Having said this they are also quite content to relax on your lap all day long, they just adjust to whatever is happening around them.

Burmese are medium in size, compact, muscular and heavier than their appearance indicates. They are the only natural breed of brown cat.

The coat should be short, fine, close lying, satin-like in texture and glossy, which generally requires little grooming other than petting.

Top of the head is slightly rounded with wide cheek bones that taper to a short blunt wedge.

They have golden eyes that can be quite mesmerising. Even to the untrained eye a Burmese looks very exotic, they also have the most dainty oval feet.

A Burmese is highly intelligent, affectionate and extremely loyal. They have dog-like tendencies. They will greet you at the door when you come home and some even play fetch!
